A Faroese Classic appears in Norway

The recent Norwegian publication of Fiskimenn ('Fishermen') is the first appearance outside the Faroe Islands of the novel by Martin Joensen.

The recent Norwegian publication of Fiskimenn (‘Fishermen’) is the first appearance outside the Faroes of the novel  by Martin Joensen. The publisher is Det Norske Samlaget. The novel is translated by Lars Moa.

Fiskimenn with its perspicacious psychological portraying and its critical description of the Faroese society in the 1920’ies is a central work of Faroese literature in the first half of the twentieth century. Fiskimenn originally appeared in 1946 and has been republished in 1966, 1977, 1982, 2003 and in 2012.
